Like a gull spotting a tasty morsel in the surf, the boy made a direct line his way. Xehanort almost felt the dark-haired boys' attention settle on him before the boy opened his mouth. "You're new here, right? Are you going to be in our class? What's your name?" "Wh.hey!" Argument forgotten, Eraqus peeled around the table and closed in. He'd spotted the silver hair and almost called out to Baldr, who could be reliably bullied into smiling awkwardly and sort of nodding at whatever Eraqus said, only he realized he wasn't looking at Baldr at all.
It was only when Vor stuck out her tongue and Eraqus called her a brat, which made her call him a brat, which got Eraqus to start looking around for anyone he could nudge into ganging up on Vor about who was the brat. They all just meandered in one afternoon and there was a stranger in their midst, as there occasionally was if Baldr's sister dropped by or someone else from Vidar's class eeled in to grab a forgotten bag or book or extremely critical assignment before ducking right back out again.Įraqus initially didn't even notice him. He'd heard the rumors-they all had, of the mysterious stranger who turned up at the pier and became Master Odin's ward overnight-but the reality was as mundane as any other addition to the class. Like the friends from his childhood dreams, but solid and present right in front of him.Įraqus honed in on the new kid with the precision and ferocity of a heart-seeking spell. They were all so.comfortable with one another, already connected in a way Xehanort had never had the opportunity to experience himself.

Something about how much there was to do and to see made time feel unnaturally stretched out to him. Xehanort had not been here long at all, but it already felt like he'd been here for ages. Scala ad Caelum was absolutely incredible.
